I have been making this dish for the past 35 five years , it was my mom’s recipe and it is the best lasagna I have ever tasted.
First step is to cook the ground beef in a deep pan with the olive oil , onion, garlic and basil .
Season the beef while is cooking with the adobo, pepper and oregano . Once the beef is cooked add the tomato puree and brown sugar .
Let it cook for at least 1/2 hour to 45 minutes . Boil the water for the pasta with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and salt .
Cook the pasta for 7 to 10 minutes , watch the pasta because you don’t want it soft , preferably al dente.
Drain pasta. To assemble the Lasagna I start with a big spoon ground beef sauce in the bottom of the baking dish , then a layer of pasta , ground beef [ leave a little for the top ] and cheese [ leave a little for the top] , in that order .
Repeat the process until you are done with the ground beef and cheese . I usually have 3 or 4 layers of pasta .
Once you are done, place the leftover from the ground beef and cheese at the top .
Covered with aluminum foil in pre-heated oven at 350 F degrees for 45 minutes [ depending on the oven, it could be 30 minutes ].
Uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes, until pasta is lightly brown.
Cut into squares with sharp knife and serve. Enjoy!
